“Heavenly Gazes”

“Heavenly Gazes” is an exhibition dedicated to photographers and documentary filmmakers who were killed or injured as a result of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Opened within the framework of the Cannes Film Festival, the exhibition features works by Ukrainian photographers Max Levin, who was killed in the Kyiv region in the spring of 2022, Georgiy Ivanchenko, as well as French photographer Antoni Lallican, who was killed in October 2025 by a Russian drone attack in Donbas.

By decision of the President of Ukraine, Antoni Lallican was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit. On behalf of the Embassy of Ukraine in France, the award was presented to the photographer’s wife by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Nice, Iryna Podyryako-Bourdelles.
Each photograph in this exhibition is both testimony and remembrance of people who risked their lives so that the world could see the truth about the war in Ukraine.

According to confirmed data from the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, at least 150 media professionals have lost their lives as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war, including 52 photographers and documentary filmmakers.

Sadly, the war continues, adding new names to this tragic list…
